So things have settled into a nice pace around the farm. We get up and feed the animals, go to our off farm jobs, or work on winterizing the house and property and preparing the garden for next year. We raked huge piles of leaves and spread them thickly over the garden beds. We had the irrigation system blown out so the pipes would not freeze. Also, we sealed the front steps to keep water from freezing and cracking them.
In other news, the goats are happy. Their winter coats are coming in thickly and we prepared a little room for them under the corn crib for the winter. It has a nice thick layer of straw to keep them dry and warm. They enjoyed eating the jack o lanterns left over from Halloween. I met our neighbor’s two goats yesterday:
They are dwarf wethered males with horns intact. They live with two big fat sweet pigs. Here is one of them:
The weather has been warm for the past few days and I’ve enjoyed eating out on our porch and the scenery:
