Perennial Plants

…The gifts that keep on giving.

Each year, we have continued to increase the amount of perennials we have in our garden. With a little bit of maintenance, perennials can go a long way. Here is a glimpse of a few of our favorites.

  1. Your strawberries look great. We have strawberries this year, but haven’t planted them in the ground yet.
I was also thinking that I should get more perennials.

  2. Hello Ruth! Our strawberry plants are spreading like crazy. We planted about a dozen two years ago. By the end of last year, they had easily filled in the entire area. This year, we dug up about 20 crowns and ended up moving them to another part of the garden. Where ever you plant yours, keep in mind that they’ll have no problem filling in the area on their own. I’m excited to hear about what other perennials you choose.

  3. Funny story – we planted one of our strawberries one evening a few days ago, and I woke up to find that it had been ‘unplanted’ by some mysterious being. Thrown a couple of feet from the spot we had planted it, with the encasing of soil from the pot it grew in. I thought that was strange but I replanted it, watered it and whispered some comforting words only to find the same thing had happened again several hours later.
I ended up surrounding it with planks. I think the cats like digging in freshly turned soil. Anyway, I hope our strawberries spread as much as yours… and that the cats loose interest.
